Description

This is a solder-less and easy to install VDC ram upgrade board for the Commodore 128 and 128D. These machines has only 16K of video RAM, which is not enough for GEOS lovers, News Maker users, or C128 demo’s maniacs. This upgrade gives you 64K VDC ram, like the C128DCR (this is the latest version with metal desktop housing).

Fitting Instructions: remove your metal heat sink, carefully remove the video chip MOS 8563, fitting it to the original socket the tiny daughter board and install back the video chip. Be careful to the correct orientation. Please use a modern aluminum or copper heat sink instead of the original (and ugly) metal sink! In this way the board a little bit taller with the daughter board! That’s all! Note: In some case on the 128D, you must remove first the power supply unit, floppy drive and floppy drive controller to access the video chip place.
